A special Mother’s Day INHOUSE Jazz concert is slated for May 12 in celebration of all mothers and grandmothers. Consistent with the INHOUSE format of presenting intimate concerts in private residences, INHOUSE Jazz will continue the 2019 season with a concert hosted by vocalist Annie Averre, featuring alto saxophonist Warren Rand and pianist Gordon Lee on Sunday, May 12, in a home in Siletz.
All moms will be admitted as the special guests of the day. The concert will showcase familiar jazz and Latin classics, a mix of fresh, original works and favorite selections from the artists’ recordings.
Gordon Lee and Warren Rand have collaborated musically for many years together in various ensembles, the most notable, Mel Brown’s Sextet at Jimmy Mac’s in Portland. Lee is a composer, jazz pianist, arranger, conductor and music educator who is well-known throughout the Pacific Northwest. He played with one of the originators of jazz-rock fusion, Jim Pepper, for 14 years and also has played with drummer Mel Brown since 1986. He teaches music at Reed College and Western Oregon University.
The Gordon Lee Warren Rand Duo plays original and classic jazz. They explore the worldwide musical horizon while swinging their way into the future.
